Skinny Dipping
On Saturday I had a GREAT little experience. Sander helped me clean out the garage at my old place (and no! that's not the great experience) and after when we got home we were both kinda hot and worn out. So we decided to go for a swim... without bathing suits or anything. We went skinny dipping in the middle of the afternoon!! =) Oh my gosh it feels so good to swim without clothes on in the middle of the day in the privacy of your own backyard. If you don't remember, the weather was perfect that day. After I couldn't resist to lay down on the concrete. I could feel the sun warming my body on one side and the concrete on the other. Oh it felt sooo good to close my eyes with all the relaxing sensations of the afternoon. I can't wait until next summer when we can do that on hot summer nights just before bed.

Kitchen Sink
Today it's really difficult to "see" the little things. I have a busy morning and an even busier & longer day to look forward to at work. But (and I know I'm not supposed to start sentences with but, but this is my blog, so I can rewrite American english and grammar) so back to what I was going to say... but one of the beautiful things about having this blog is that it also keeps me on the lookout for "the little things". And...I can create my own "little things" when needed. So that is exactly what I did.
As most women know and few men find out, not all women wash their hair every single day. And it's not because we're lazy or trying to grow out dreadlocks it's because we don't want to dry out our hair. So some of us go one, two or dare I say three days without using shampoo and conditioner. Today was a "no wash" hair day for me only because I was in such a big hurry. But I found myself with one hour to spare before I had to report to jail (i mean work) so I decided, I'M GOING TO WASH MY HAIR IN THE KITCHEN SINK!! Now friends that are reading this and suffer from cleanliness please rest assured I scrubbed that sink all up with Comet when I was finished. I promise. When I was young my grandma did it all the time. I never really wondered why but now I know. It's to save the time of taking off all your clothes, getting in the shower, getting all wet, having to dry off and then redress yourself.
My findings are that washing your hair in the kitchen sink is GLORIOUS! Because your nose is so close to your hair (if you have longish hair like mine) you get to smell the delicious suds (just don't eat 'em), you're able to watch your hair move back and forth around the sink (it'll put you in a trance) and listen to the birds outside the kitchen window (how often do you get to hear birds gossiping when you're washing your hair?? It's a totally NEW experience :)) Then when all is said and done all you have to do is grab your towel and wrap it around your head. Done! You've just cut out five time zapping, and totally unnecessary steps in your "get ready for the day routine". You're welcome!
So my order to you is... go wash your hair! In the kitchen sink!

See Jane Run
I am so thankful for a healthy body. I am also thankful that I do not live in fear. I don't allow fear to keep me back from challenging myself & taking risks.
Last Saturday I competed in my first sprint triatholon and the results just came in and I'm SUPER proud of myself for 1. getting started 2. never giving up! =)
Total Time: 1:49:10.7
Swim: 11:40.7
Bike: 51:02.3
Run: 39:25.2
My 2011 goal is to beat my 2010 time for each category!

What it's all about: The Power of THE LITTLE THINGS
This blog is a daily reminder (to myself) of all the beautiful, wonderful things in (my) life that I am fortunate to enjoy. It's giving recognition to the positive and by doing so, taking power away from the negative.
This morning before school I baked another sheet of "Holiday Cookies" that the boys devoured with ice cold milk. To see the crumbs on their faces and their bright happy eyes. Ahhh what a gift.
Even though I'm happy to move on to the day shift I have to say to take a nap in the middle of the day for no reason at all is a luxury I will miss. Fell asleep to the soothing sound of the pool pump, the birds chatting and the sunshine creeping across my bedroom ceiling.
A good morning message from my busy boyfriend never fails to make me happy =)
I'm off to get ready for work now and find out what other "gifts" await me.

Where it all began
1. Laura's blog inspired me: http://lauragetsfit.blogspot.com/
2. Tom led me to believe there's nothing to be afraid of. Everyone does it.
3. And Josie my valued friend and adviser gave me the idea of what to write about.
